Kyle, I just started looking into the Subaru conversion for my '85 Westy. Unfortunatly the price quote I recieved for a '92 engine (with less than 50,000 miles on it) and all the wiring was about $3,500 from a place near Sacramento. This would put the total cost of the conversion in the $5,000 range. This is close to the trade in value for a working 1992 Legacy in fair condition according to the Kelly Blue Book. ( $4,305) The person on the phone told me he had just sold another motor for $3,500 for a VW van engine swap. I do not know if this is just 1 individual charging what the trafic will bear or if California models just cost more. At this price I am still looking.
