Squeaking brakes on the 82 Westy seems to be increasing in frequency, though is still intermittant. No noise on first application of the brake pedal, only in the last 2-3 seconds just before rolling to a stop. It's also pretty bad in reverse. Mechanic (who installed new brake pads) says this is normal (something about metallic particles in the newer brake pads) and it's nothing to worry about - says squeaking frequency will also change with moisture content in air.
