yup. it's Holloween. that's the night BEFORE Halloween. :) tomorrow
night is when all the dead rise up and walk around bothering people,
bugging them for candy and cookies and such. such would the traditions
have you believe anyway, on All Hallow's Evening, October 31st.
(for you folks in more sane countries round the world, you don't even
want to know how this old probably-Celtic holy-day got started in this
country. or why.)
anyway, THIS night is Holloween, the night that the gremlins (and
glitches and things that go bump in your car) walk the neighborhoods,
looking for a new home ... a new car! so put your bus inside, or
lock the doors and windows and put duct tape over all exposed openings
... lest ye find tomorrow morn that it won't start or roll, or makes
some strange new noise!!!
or you can try the olde Westfalian remedy of putting a string of
Bratwurst (any old wurst will do) on the door handles. only trouble
with this is that the neighborhood dogs, cats, kids (and that big fat
guy that lives at the end of the block) will all put scratch marks
and slobber on your bus, as they eat the wurst in the dark!
so lock up your buses, wimmen, and children, sit on the couch with the
lights turned way down low, and watch the Tele as you stuff your face
with nachos and salsa dip. hey, it's Tradition!! :)
(you REALLY think i make this stuff up???)
