I agree with Kyle, on Montana de Oro -- beautiful, with good tidepools.
There's also Morro Bay State Park -- good base of operations, and even has
some sites with hookups.

I like Morro Bay, but expect to be driving a friend's U-Haul to Tucson
Thanksgiving weekend.
