Subject: FACTORY REBUILT ENGINE AVAILABILITY
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Last June my independent VW repair shop ordered a replacement VW rebuilt engine for my 85 Vanagon from the local VW dealer. It's still not here. We have heard every lame excuse imaginable. Do any of you know if it's possible to get an engine out of VW, and how. We have checked with two different VW dealers, and they tell us only that the engines are in short supply and on backorder. What kind of service is that.....what kind of company is it that allows this to happen....and what can be done about it. For those of you reading the list who are "wannabe's", I really would caution you about buying something for which there is so little company support. Sure, they're great when they run, but if you can't get parts, should you really risk buying one. I say this even though I own several VWAG products. At this point, I wouldn't buy a new vehicle from VW--period. Again, does anyone know if engines are available or not. Thanks
