Subject: Stalling, flooding. Is it Oxygen sensor?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi all. Need your help and advice.

Johann, my 91 Vanagon Westy GL with automatic transmission, 94k miles, has begun stalling. The last three weekends it has been wet and windy here in Massachusetts. Three times it has stalled out when I pulled out slowly in reverse after the van had been sitting for a few hours. Two of the three times it had just been raining and windy outside. Once it was perfectly dry and it stalled.

All three times, when it stalled the van was backing out and the nose was tilted down.

Apparently the engine floods, although since it is an automatic I do not give it any gas when backing out. I turn it off, wait a minute, then start it again and floor the gas. That works every time. This just started happening these last few weeks.

Sound like the oxygen sensor? Just my driving? The wet weather? Any thoughts appreciated.

TIA Maureen

P.S. So glad the list is up again. I missed it a lot. Thanks Chris for all your hard work getting it back up.

Maureen Stretch Natick, Mass. 91 Vanagon GL Westy "Johann"
