Subject: Buying House/Garage In DC--Personal Situation
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

To all my many friends on the list:

My wife is taking a position as deputy business editor of the Washington Post and we have bought a house in DC, one with a two car garage and space for all my industrial VW toys (shop press, etc., factory tools, spare parts, etc.).

I will retain my apartment in New York and will be here a lot. But how much depends on work-related issues that are fluid.

My impression is that DC is the land of the VW busses compared to New York--there is one on every 20 blocks, while here in New York it is one every 150 blocks.

I still have no time to go to VW events or post much. But someday this shall pass and I'll always be here on the list in the meantime, reading all the syncro posts and a lot of the others.

I would like to report that in regards to my smashed window, Joel Walker rushed to my aide with a spare wing vent and it turned out I had a spare sliding window from my old 87 so I am all set. Joel and I are among the few members of the list that were on when it had only 10 people or so, having moved over to lenti from another list that was small and stopped working (before the Internet really "happened") so I got bailed out by an old pal. There was a time when Joel and I would try to do the list by telephone, which meant it had only two members, and a single communication session could mean a $20 long distance phone bill.

Am I right that our little community now has four major parts specialists: Kyle, Jim, and Ron, plus Camelback for the factory stuff?
