I think its pretty clear that Chris' cat has already failed and would not pass
an inspection. In the event he must get an inspection in the future or if he
decides to sell the van he will have to buy a new cat no matter if he pokes this
one or not. Buy it now or buy it later is the question. Answer: Gut the cat,
enjoy the "power" for now (and try to sleep at night knowing that you are
contributing to the demise of our planet), fix it when you need to! :^)
