Greetings-

I'm having clutch problems in an '85. The master cylinder wasa dripping
fluid, and it recently (tonight) got to the point I couldn't
put it in first (reverse has been a problem for a few weeks). I got
home and bled the system with the pressure bleeder, and the clutch
pedal is back to a firm ride all the way down, but there are still
problems with shifing and catching once I have shifted. Would this
still be related to a bad master cyinder-it isn't putting enough pressuer
on the slave even though it has all been bled, or is the clutch also
kaput? (I do hear a sandpaper like sound when in gear). If it is the
clutch, which is the easiest avenue of repair, dropping the engine or
the transmission?

The immediate result is the '71 gets a shotgun tune-up and once-over
tomorrow :)
