Good wires in good shape shouldn't need to be kept spaced from each other - although I commonly tie the "bundle" away from grounding points.

My '72 & '77 BMW 6 cyl engines (with aftermarket HEI) routed all plug wires in a parallel bundle down a plastic tube with openings that split each wire out at the plug where it connected. Never had an ignition problem between the wires, although the coil wire went bad on both.

Between plug wires you have two thicknesses of insulation, and a "pinhole" would have to develop between both to cause a problem.

Mark,

On the Zip Tye deal, I use one Bigger tye then "Between" the wires I run a small zip tye around the zip tye. This insulates the wires from each other but still lets them follow the same path. I've used this on many cars including a race car that I ran for 4 years. This helps to keep the wires from touching hot surfaces etc on other types of cars.

On the wires, I have Bosch wires for your Vanagon for $65.00.

I hope this info helps you?

Kyle
