Subject: Now that we are talking batteries...
Comments: To: sxs@concentric.net

My vanagon almost went up in flames! The starter shorted out and caused the positive cable leading from the battery to fry. Almost took the rest of the van with it! I now will have to replace the battery cable and the starter selonoid. I hope it is just the selenoid. The starter is just to expensive. It doesnt look like i will have to replace anything else. My question is: Has anyone had experience with this, and what may have caused this? The battery is new, the old one wouldnt keep a charge and I replaced it. This time with the correct one! Yesterday I drove the van and it started to cut out on me.
