Subject: CA vanagon standards

Dear vanagon lovers, I may be moving to CA from PA. The 81 vanaon I have had for the last 10 years has become a loved member of the family. It has to come with us if there is a way. What will the CA emissions people want from it? What kind of costs will I incur bringing that vehicle? Does anybody in CA know?

I have had an after-market extractor type muffler/pipes system on it for the last 8 years. The egr pipe from the original horseshoe bend in the crowwover pipe to the intake manifold is connected to nothing. The van does pass PA emmissions tests, but that may not mean much.

I still have the original muffler and cat. converter, it was the cosat of the crossover pipe from VW that made me switch.

Besides emissions, are there any other suprises that await me in bringing this van to CA? Please mail answers to me directly (crowley@psc.edu) and I will consolidate and post the answers for anybody interested. Many thanks in advance for help. Cheers, Mike
