Subject: Water behind the refrigerator
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi, I recently received a Propex heater from the group buy and one of my first actions was to remove the refrigerator. Much to my dismay, in addition to the dirt that I found there, I found a lot of water next to the wall under the insulation. Not quite a puddle but more than just damp.

I have removed the bottom inch of insullation as far as I could reach in each direction and then dried it out with a blow dryer. Now I want to find out where the leak is coming from. The insulation higher up has no indication that it was wet so I am discounting the refrig vent or the 3 black panels. ?????

I tried running the water pump while I watched behind the sink and could not see or feel any leak. The water tank does not seem to be leaking just sitting there for the last few days. We never have it more than 1/2 to 3/4 full so I doubt if the overflow is a problem.

I would suspect the refrigerator but we hadn't used it in the last 4 to 5 weeks. Where does the water generated by the refrig go? Am I missing some obvious refrig care and maintenance item.

It has been raining a lot the last few weeks so it could be an external leak but where?

If anyone has a clue, I am clueless and would love some suggestions.

John
