Bill,  I've been running various HF rigs in my '91 syncro westie since I
bought it new.  I've currently got a "bug-catcher" mounted on the rear
side panel (below the plastic vents) hooked to a remote mounted Yaesu
FT-900.  Everything works as expected with no problems.  I've probably
worked over a 100 countries with this setup in the westie.

The only problem I've had with RF in the Vanagon, is with a 50 watt UHF
rig, which seems to cause odd effects like deceleration, near stalls at
times.  I've got to do some more grounding.
