Hi all,

I checked the archives but didn't find anything, so here I am asking you all.

I just returned from Death Valley for Thanksgiving and my second tirp through Titus Canyon - great trip!

Onto my problem - what I feel is excessive body lean/tilt or sway. As you'll note I have had two Westy's (an '80 & '89) prior to me purchasing my latest used '86 one with with one accident in right front. This one handles much poorer (leans more) than either of my previous Westy's. In fact it has down right scared me.

The front end has been rebuilt, replaced the steering rack, put all new tires - Michelin XCH4's with 45 lbs pressure and KYB shocks were installed last year. It feels as if it leans to a certain point then really gives way. I suspect that the springs have gone cause I also suspect the car really has over 250K miles on it and not the 150K shown.

So my questions are:

1. Has anyone had to replace these springs - front or rear? 2. Are the KYB shock adjustable and whould adjusting them help? 3. Any other ideas you might have?

The tires are wearing great and overall the suspension is firm, however, put it into a turn and it sure feels like it will roll over. By the way this problem existed prior to going to Death Valley.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Denys ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Denys Mueller Murrieta, CA 1986 VW Westy - BCHMOTL PO '80 & '89 Westys'
