Hey there
Most of you probably do not remember me, but Im back from my trip west!
I spent 2 months on the road with my girlfriend and my dog (westy!). I
really had a great time and learned alot about the usa and myself and
other things, not the least of which is that is VERY stressful living in
an 82 diesel westy in campgrounds with another person and a dog! ;)
Anyway our trip took us from the tip of Cape Cod Ma, down the blue ridge
pkwy, through TN (to visit the inlaws! :^( , across rte 40 (and lots of
rte 66!!). To Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Mesa Verde, Moab, Las Vegas (i won
$300 on a slot!), San Francisco (Bodega Bay)
down rt 1, Big Sur, Santa Barbara, Carpenteria, Van Nuys and back. We
planned on staying in the Santa Barbara area, preferably in Summerland
or Carpenteria, but we couldn't put things together with rent (NOONE
would rent to a dog), jobs etc... We hope to go back though..
ANYWAY, In Santa Barbara I had to get my diesel injector pump replaced
with a used one which was VERY generously donated by a fellow listee.
Unfortunately, this one is leaking now too (after a $350 installation).
To go along with that the alternator needs a rebuild, exhaust problems
hound me, and 2 of the motor mounts have broken off!
So Ive decided to give up on her. :( Maybe someone will have better
luck?)
Here are her plusses:
rebuilt tranny installed a year ago (10 k).
No rust, but body needs work, which has been started.
Interior is pretty good with both tables, and all curtains 3way
Fridge, Stove, Sink. Canvas is great except the screen. New tires before
we left (3mos) about 8000 miles With all the problems the van is
driveable a short distance. I would definitely consider parting it out
if I don't get any takers. Major pulling jobs I will NOT do ! :) Any
other questions contact me! I need to get $1000 for it
