Thomas,
I'm quite sure that there is a small but guaranteed market for the
video. I, for one, would be interested, regardless of whether or not
the video has overdubs or subtitles. All it would take would be
perhaps a little more time in the production studio to do the
overdubs- not necessarily ambitious or expensive, just a minor editing
job. I don't see why this guy couldn't do at least a small run of
maybe 500 copies for $30 a pop.
As someone who has recording experience, I can tell you that maybe 2-3
more days of studio time is a MINOR expense as professional
productions go, especially if it expands the market for your product,
so don't believe any B.S. about the unsurmountable expense to do this.
Apart from the studio time, added expenses would perhaps be to hire
the translator and narrator, perhaps for a day at the very most, and
then the program needs to be remastered (maybe several hours). If I am
missing something, let me know; I will stand corrected. (union scale
in Germany is high, etc.?)
Aside from that, I'm sure that there are many bus enthusiasts who
would pay much more than $30.00 for a tape like this. By all means,
haggle this guy into doing this. Tons of people on or off both lists
will LOVE you for it!!!
Best of luck!!!!!
Sam
