Hello, Volkswagen has constructed a special accessory for cleaning EV windshields. It is a pulley system which attaches to the rear bumper, runs over the top of the roof and has one bracket in the rear (to keep the cable off the roof) and two brackets which attach to the window frame (make sure that the rubber parts are in place). There are three harnesses available in medium, large and X-large (careful not for very heavy people). The harness should fit snugly around your waste (try it before using the system). The cable with the red handle is used to raise and lower the operator to appropriate heights. There is also an optional flashlight with a headband available for nighttime operations. It cost about $850, ask your local VW dealer. It has been made standard equipment on some GLLS versions made available only in South Africa between 1993 and 1995. Of course there is also the broom handle available at your local hardware store plus a window cleaning kit ... Björn P.S. couldn't resist |
