We don't use the upper bunk for sleeping, since we like the lower better. That leaves the upper bunk for storage when the pop-top is open. Of course this obviously won;t work all of you but for the two of us... I removed the upper bunk fold out front section. Theres only 4 screws holding it in. I then added a shelf attached to the pop-top. The shelf is made of that new wire closet rack stuff they sell. The shelf is attached to the pop-top by wire cable so it folds when the pop-top is closed. It hangs a few inched (opps, typo) inches back from the top bunk edge and about 16" above it. It gives us a lot more room for storage while camping. I put the wire shelf in upside down so its back lip is up, rather than down. That keeps stuff from pushing off the back.
