hi volks, i vote for the in-line engines (golf, gti, etc) that seem to be everywhere as a viable swap option. they're proven, plentiful, and offer loads of high performance options not available with the wasserboxer. these are the engines being used in the south/central american bay window busses i saw in guatemala. i know at least two listmembers (erik o and limbo jim) have diesel conversions and seem happy with them, and enjoying much better mileage than any wasserboxer i've seen! like around 22-23mpg in a westy! also, it's a vw engine. just my 0.02... tony tri-state transporters mount healthy, ohio |
