Scott, The problem is that most (but not all) 83-91 Wasser Westys came with at least Rear Air Cond. (Mine did) (and late 84-91 mostly had Power Steering too [mine doesn't]), so most had the THREE Grooved pulley (not two - it just looks that way in the Bentley). And that's prolly why VW hardly ever sells the 1 grooved variety. Notes on installing a 3 groove pulley: This takes a different Pulley bolt (sorry, dealer only on this too, unless Ron has a few bolts laying around), so yer gonna have to get that as well. Torque Specs on the 3 grooved pulley is 258 foot pounds, a lot heavier than the 1 grooved variety. For additional info, see Bentley pages 13.35 and 13.42 on proper installation. I had a buddy fashion the alignment/locking tool (seen on pg 13.35) to hold the pulley when installing the bolt. Although I'm not using the Air Cond., I do like the beefiness of the 3 groove pulley. Sure won't get outa kilter on this one.
