Check your grounding straps i.e. clean and tighten them.They probably were about to fail, your wife just hastened the process. Also check the ground clusters behind the fuse box(disconnect battery first!). I replaced a bunch of corroded push-on terminals here. I went ahead and separated the wires that were doubled up i.e. gave each wire it's own terminal.
