I believe the secret of the Misfiring Vanagon has been solved and I thank everyone who sent advice. Someone suggested that I check my ground strap. The funny thing was that I just noticed the day before that my ground strap was broken. It must have happened on my trip to Boston and that is when the missing started. The van also started harder than it normally did. So I replaced the ground strap with a insulated battery cable for an American car that already had the ends on it and everything and was about 19 inches long. Cost a whopping $3 and our local Farm and Family store! So if your van is starting harder now that it is cold, maybe you should check that ground strap too. It is on the left of the motor attached from the top of the head to the firewall. Happy driving and thanks again. Ken Wilford John 3:16 |
