Subject: Syncro Safari in Moab Utah, Easter 98
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII
Greetings Syncronauts!!
I'm planning a Syncro Safari in Moab, Utah the week preceeding Easter 1998. I
expext to be getting more information in this soon and I'll pass it along.
Soon I'll be forming a temporary internet mailing list to keep people up to
date. For now, the information that's available is below. If you'd like to be
kept informed about this trip, please let me know and I'll subscribe you to
the list. I don't expect much mail volume on the Syncro Safari list for a
while. I currently have seen an expressed interest in this trip from the
following list.
(If you're on it, you don't need to remind me of your interest.)
Tim Smith, Ron Lussier, Brian Kraft, Jay Fitzgerald, Chris Wyatt, Adrian
Oxbrow,
Dennis Haynes, Todd Francis, Curt Long, Steve Wacker, Lawrence Johnson,
John Franklin, Stephanie Wacker, Dennis Wacker, ZoeAnn Banker, Mike Duniway
Each Easter four wheelers decend on Moab for the Easter Jeep Safari put on by
the Red Rock 4-Wheelers. While "Jeep" is in the title, the event is open to
all 4WD vehicles. They organize a bunch of trail runs rated from 2.5 (fairly
mild, 4WD required) to 4+ (BIG tires, LOW gears, locking differentials and
winches!).
I think this would be an ideal time for Syncronauts from all over to gather at
Moab and do some wheelin'. I know there will be a TON of other 4-wheelers
there at this event, and that would be sort of part of the point. I really
enjoy seeing the jaws of Jeep drivers drop when I meet theem on the trail.
Having a whole group of us will multiply the effect and be especially fun!
I volunteer to coordinate this effort and handle the registration (yes, it's
quite organized) for the group. This registration will need to be done in
February.
The Easter Jeep Safari begins Saturday, April 4th and culminates on Easter,
Sunday, April 12, 1998. I think the Syncro Safari might be some subset of
those dates, perhaps Wednesday to Sunday.
This annual event is open to all 4WD vehicles, not just Jeeps as the name
implies and is sponsored by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers and the Moab, Utah
Chamber of Commerce. The events and trail rides take place in and around
Moab, Utah.
I've been told that if we have more than just a few Syncros in attendance,
there's a good likelihood that we'll get some coverage in one or more of the
4X4 magazines that will be covering the event.
For those of you without a Syncro, make friends with a Syncro owner soon and
join us! I think that many of the Safari attendees camp out for the event,
and I suppose that it might be fun for non-Syncro owners to come, camp, and
hitch a ride.
Regards,
Jim Davis
