Subject: 87 Digifant idle problems
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

This message did not get posted on my first try, so I do it again:

Hello Volks,

My 87 Synchro Digifant has some warmup problems:

Cold start: Somewhat reluctant to idle then fine, then little or no idle after 1 min, then fine.

lukewarm start: starts okay, after about 40 secs. sputters, doesn't want to go over 2200 rpm for about a minute (even with full throttle in neutral); it's like driving at idle speed for a moment, when I coach it to about 3000 RPM it works fine and when the engine reaches temperature it's running fine as well.

hot start: works fine, engine runs ok at working temperature.

I suspect the airflow control unit on the airfilter, but the resistance of the thermostat checks out ok.

Any ideas?

Does anyone know of a good description who does what at which temperature with the Digifant?

Björn
