Volks, My wife and I are in the process of purchasing an '85 Westy GL and I was hoping to gain some basic knowledge on the theory/operation of combustion motors...especially as it relates to the motor in my Westy. I work as a Electrical Design Engineer for Texas Instruments and, to date, I have never had any vehicles that I have been so interested in that I would like to have the capability of tinkering with them...I have the feeling that that's about to change (maybe by necessity?!)... I am aware of the Bentley Repair Manual as well as the Brooklands Road Test Series (I realize that the Brookland's book won't be of any real assistance in motor theory/operation). I do plan on purchasing the Bentley Manual as every VW owner that I have run into thus far highly recommends keeping this book in the vehicle at all times. Basically, I was wondering whether or not anyone could recommend any additional materials that I could use to improve my understanding of motor theory/operation...or does everyone pretty much feel that the info in the Bentley Manual is sufficient, even for a "motor dummy" such as myself. Thanks, in advance, for your assistance. Brian Simoes |
