Bryan, I've had the same problem with my 90 Syncro Westy.  Mostly on trips.
I still don't know if the problem is solved.  It's like an instantaneous
loss of ignition.  With the Syncro, I'm always concerned about the severe
jerk on the drive train.  I put in a new oxy. sensor but I still don't know
if it's fixed as I haven't taken any recent trips.  I'll be interested in
