Hi Vanagon list!

The best place I have found to get a Nighthawk model is Home Base. I once posted this to type Type2 list:

Home Base is the place to get Carbon Monoxide testers! Unlike JC Whitney and Home Depot, they have a battery operated DC unit! For $40, Nighthawk makes a round unit that is shaped like a smoke alarm and has a LCD read-out of the current CO level. It uses 3 AA size batteries, included, and they are supposed to last a year. No need to even run a wire! I've tested it, and it works great.
