I bought my 1988 Syncro Double Cab in August for $12,500 Canadian. This was because the former owner HAD to sell because she could not take it in to the US. I wasn't about to tell her how and drive home ending my 2 year search.

Since I have bought it I have had three offers for the truck the last offer was for $18,000 and I said no. I know of someone in Vancouver Island who will part with two Syncros. He owns 6 Transporters... a bit of an ecentrick! Two of these are TriStars, he will sell one of these for... are we sitting down... $40,000 US as there was only 17 imported to North Americia. The other is a 86 Syncro that he is restoring. He spares no expense when he does them. He wanted $12,000 for it before restoration. I don't know how much he want for it now or if it is even for sale at this moment. If the $$$ are right I know of someone else with a 86 Syncro that has over 300,000km on the clock and it is very tired... I would get it if you were REALLY serious and wanted a project vechical.

Email me if you want some details on the TriStar (picture on my VW site).

Good luck on the search! It was well worth the 2 year wait for me!
