The mechanic told me it looked like both head gaskets where already replaced. The frustrating part was having to wait for the insurance co. to come out and approve the repair. Once that was taking care They couldn't fit the parts didn't fit, so I had to wait again for them to approve of replacing the cyl. head. I think that it took about 6weeks.

Well a month went by and the left side started leaking once again. With my luck I had to wait another 6 weeks for the repair and this time they replaced the short block.

I thought everything would have been alright, however 2 weeks after my extended warranty expired the left side started leaking once again. This time I had to speak to the owner of the VW dealer about the problem because the repair dept. didn't want to honor any warranties on the repair, somehow they contacht VWUSA and convinced them of getting this repaired for me. After approving the repair they foundout that the new left cyl. head was slightly undersized.

Well I ended up paying (3) 100 dollar deductibles and wasn't able to drive my van 1/4 of a year while it was sitting at the dealer for approvals and part arrivals.

If I didn't have the extended warranty the total of the 3 repairs would have been at just under U.S. $9,500.

The first time I took it in my father told the mechanics that they should have VW just get a new long block for me and laughed at the Idea.

Miguel
