I shore enjoyed all the comments about automatics vs manuals. I don't know if automatics are more reliable or not <more manual failures than autos> as I don't know if there are just a lot more manuals than autos.

My automatic is pretty quick (for a tank) out of the hole but as soon as it hits third you enter a new space/time continum where all life slows down. Thats why the sign in my rear window says "0 to 60 in 11 minutes!". One of the many reasons my wife and I love our westy is because it forces us to slow our ratrace lives down a good bit. (going up hills is still a pain in the a__!)

Recently I think that Helmut mentioned that the locking differential was an option on two wheel drive vanagons, at least in Germany. If this is the case wouldn't that imply that somewhere back in der fatherland exist the parts for a group purchase (attention Ron/Kyle). Geez, I wonder if I could put that into the differential of my mighty automatic? I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it!

Later, Bob
