Subject: Reimo Comes to the US?
Comments: To: type2@bigkitty.azaccess.com

I posted a couple of weeks ago about Reimo in Germany importing new poptop campers to the US.

I spoke with Ralph Gelsema today who heads up their export department. He stated that Reimo has been considering entering the US market for several years and they are still exploring that possibility. The current idea is to import a Mercedes luxury RV and not any VW based product. I'm not sure if this will be based on the minivan or larger vehicle.

Now if VW would import some Eurovan panel vans, I could set you up with a do- it-yourself poptop conversion kit. I just received a brochure from Canada with a new Eurovan panel truck - with turbo diesel. If I though I could import this, I'd fly up to Canada and drive on home.

As far as the rumors that Reimo has setup a distributor here in the US, I guess I'm that distributor. At least they tell me there are no other plans to deal with anyone but myself. I just wish Reimo would be a little more proactive and responsive. At present it takes days or weeks for them to get back to me on availability and pricing. They are next to worthless on specs and technical questions.

Happy Camping.
