Subject: dying wires
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

My wife tried to jump start our 85 Westy and probably shorted between the battery post and the frame---the cables heated and the van didn't start. When the van was properly jump started it ran fine but Anne noticed some steam or smoke coming out of the front grill area for a bit. The next time I drove it the radio had no power. A week later the oil pressure light came and stayed on (no help to replace sending unit and the oil pump tests ok--yep there's oil on the dip stick). In testing and replacing the oil sending unit the Oxygen sensor light came on and mostly stays on now. My suspicion is there's a hunk of wires going near the frame in the front that got fried with the grounded battery hooked up to another running car. Before I start tearing into stuff that I know very little of is there anyone out there with relevant experience? Thanks Dick
