Subject: Electrical connection fix idea
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

My plug wires were correcded and so when the motor got wet, no go. Well, I felt the $70 for wires seemed bizarre and began looking for a work around. Two things resulted. A very quick and easy way of "restoring a good electrical connection". Second how to rebuild spark plug wires. see post.

You can use that liquid silver polish stuff Tarn-x, to dif you leads into and they are instantly transforme into clean brite and shiney. I then rinsed whatever them chemical is, and applied a electircal inhancing grease coating on the connection. What an improvement. The goo is called "OX-GARD", which describes itself as an "anti-oxidant" compound for wire connections, which also improves conductivity and produces a cooler connectior. This particular product has a feel like it has a fine grit in it to "bite" into the connectors. Probabley something conductive, with a dieletric base lubricant. I'v seen a lot of marine applications just pack wheel bearing grease in everthing electrical until it oozes out. Keeps the salty air off the metal. So that's home remedy.

Every thing I do from now on is going to get this treatment along the way.

I've seen too many "Molex-itis" problems. Molex is a large supplier of multi-prong connector plugs. Problem is that the connections of course are aluminimun and oxidize. I've fixed so many "problems" just by pulling the connections apart and cleaning them and putting them back together. I call the problem Molex-itis"
