Subject: EV Fuel Line Leak Warning......
Content-type: TEXT/PLAIN; CHARSET=US-ASCII

I haven't seen any posting of this one before, so I figured I'd alert the EV troops out there.....

Recently, I smelled some gasoline coming from the front of my EV after a short trip to the supermarket....so I popped the hood. There, to my surprise, was fuel dripping onto the distributor....not a good situation.

The culprit - the "press-on" fuel line clamps that VW uses (before you start ragging on VW for using these clamps....everyone else uses them as well)...

The fix....if you look right above the distributor you will see a group of fuel lines affixed to a brass "T" piece....One fuel line goes to the injectors, the other comes from the injector pipe as a fuel return...and the other goes to the fuel return line.

You may want to pop the radiator up and out of the way for more room. CAREFULLY remove the clamp from the fuel injector pipe...the pipe and the associated fitting is made out of plastic....now remove the clamps from the remaining fittings.

Replace the clamps with new screw type clamps doing the hoses on the brass fittings first...then put the last hose and clamp on the fuel injector pipe.

In a day or so, check to make sure the clamps are properly tightened, and you no longer have any leaks.

Ric
