WRONG! The shop owner that serviced the bus for my PO put some real expensive phosphate-free stuff in my system; he even showed me a bottle of the stuff and recommended it to me. After my big heater-hose blowout (feel free to ask about it) when I put some Prestone (which is orange) in the system after the hose replacement, when I put the front of the bus on axle-stands and bled the radiator, the stuff came out green.

Considering the lack of a standardized color for phosphate-free coolant, I don't think it's an issue, except to identify different brands. When in doubt, change it out, even though the draining part is a real PITA. I am leery about mixing different brands at this point, too- I just put some different stuff in to fill the system to keep going before I changed the water pump (ask me about that one, too).

Have fun (I know you will)
