Subject: dealer woes redux

fellow listees: as both of my vw's are still under warranty (!) i have had a lot of recent contact w/ the local dealer. syncro went in running very rough when the ambient temp dropped below 50. motor temp did not effect this at all. was also losing about 1/4 inch of coolant per week. told the dealer that the rear heater smelled. dealer replaced the coil which corrected the rough running, and said that a bypass hose was the source of the leak. well, the heater still smelled bad and they put a dent in the back bumper. brought it back and they are now replacing the rear heater core and will "look at " the back bumper damage. they were perfectly polite and even nice throughout but i still had to diagnose it myself and bring it back twice to get it fixed. next installment will be the saga of the ev a/t warranty replacement.

cheers jim catterson 91 syncro 93 ev gl ny
