Subject: Leaking Head Repair Suggestion
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

After reinspecting the corroded waterbox heads at my local VW, I feel that a feasible repair option is Fel-PRo's "head Saver" system. I'll research to see if Fel-Pro has a application to the waterbox engine, or is interested.

The head saver system is essentially for corroded aluminum heads. It involves having a local machine shop grind the corroded surface of the head, and then the head saver is a aluminum spacer that makes up for the loss in grinding.

If this type of repair is done, the factory seals are still used.

The cost of the repair would be significantly less and just as durable at "new heads." In fact the spacer, would become the sacrifical part of the repair. Ie if you have to later redo a head, the corroded spacer is replaced with a new spacer and your back on you way!

Respectfully,

Mark Keller 91" Carat WE "Lazarus"
