There is no backfiring (I'd be able to hear from inside the van, right?) As for bucking, I would have described it that way before, but now it just goes wimpy, then normal when I ease off the accelerator. One contradictory response: If the thing stalls, sometimes re-starting it seems to reset it. But this could be as much the extra shot from the fuel pump as the legendary 'ECU reset'. Sitting overnight is the best remedy.

The cap and rotor are new, as are the plug wires and O2 sensor. I will check the FI connectors and valve cover gaskets. A new coolant temp sensor is on order, but I will bring an ohm-meter the next time I go on a trouble-shooting drive.
