Subject: Re: Replacing hose on right side

Took about 20 minutes (I already had the hose). Drain the coolant system down using one of air purges lines (my name for the hoses that go up to the ring on 86 and later vans), loosen belts (maybe, I think the clearance, helped), loosen clamps with small socket and rachet, undo bolts on head with 13mm box end wrench. Pull off studs slowly. Pop new hose on pipe from head don't push too far or it may be difficult to move into position later). Ease hose on to pipe to pump, keeping it from backing up onto the curved pipe (I used some form a gasket stuff on the mating surface to the block as there wasn't a gasket between the block and the pipe when I pulled it apart). Put bolts on, arrange hose and clamp it... The hardest part I remember was trying to move the hose around after it rode up on the curved pipe when I was pressing the curved pipe and hose on to the pump pipe as I had allowed the hose to move up the curved pipe when mating the two. Thus I recommend not letting that hose get anyway near the bend ;)
