Macon, Try a camping pad called a thermo rest. I place two under my main pad for sleeping. We also use them to sit on around camp and for backpacking. They deflate and take up very little room. There are some off brands that are cheaper, but I have had no experience with them. Mine are over 8 years old and have never had a problem. They come in several lengths and widths.
