A VW grin, nod, and wink to y'all! (and that special over-th'-head 'possum twirl to Unca Joel) I'm getting ready to do a pre-season tune-up. My first one ever! (Being a novice, is it possible to do any damage while doing a tune-up?) Even though the van ('89 Syncro Westie) is very young in terms of mileage, I don't think the 84+ year-old PO ever had a thorough tune-up done on it! I see that many of you replace the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. What other things should I consider? Finally, what brand/type/kind of cap, rotor, wires, etc. are best to use as replacements? I'll probably order them from one of the List vendors. VW here in Anchorage...well, need I say more? And the FLAPS seems sorta questionable. NAPA wants to sell me all NAPA parts. For plugs I'm going with the Bosch Platinum often referred to here on the list. TIA, this should be fun!
