>| A couple of questions from this new (and delighted!) Vanagon owner: >| My headlight lenses look quite cloudy. Has anyone had success cleaning >| them? If so, what material can be used? I cleaned them out by taking the headlight assemblies off, removing the bulbs and then filling the two lights (86 and newer) with dish soap and water, and rinsing many times. This worked great (except for a few mineral spots where the water drops had dried) but a final rinse with distilled water would have been even better. I also tried isopropyl alcohol, but this seemed to have etched the reflective coating (which I thought was aluminum, guess I was wrong) so I wouldn't recommend it. I have heard putting the units in a dishwasher with the openings pointing toward the spray bar works really well (that is if you have a dishwasher of course). dave |
