Congrats to Ron et. all for getting the list back up on line.

Several people inquired about the Vanagon List Hat during the time the list was hosted on the Type 2 list, but I waited for Gerry to come back online to post this info to keep from overburdening the Type 2 List.

The Vanagon List hat is now available. For those who have forgotten or are new--it is a stiched not ink stamped hat--modern low-profile style with cloth tab in back w/metal adjuster--not cheap plastic tabs. The official color is khaki crown w/black bill and black stiched design. (Other colors are available if desired). The design looks much like Poor Richards sticker with a hubcap design with vanagon@vanagon.com around the top edge of the hubcap.

The desirability of a hat grew from the idea if you are at a VW shows and are away from your van, another list member might spot you, introduce themselves and meet face-to-face someone they have talked to on cyberspace.

The original cost of the hat was $7.50 (which is my wholesale price) plus $3 per order shipping. I sell this type hat from $10 to $12 at VW shows but wanted to give the list the opportunity to order individually and pay wholesale price. Order with a friend and save postage. I will have hats available at Mid East Coast VW events during '98. (Moneyback guarantee if not satisfied--just return hat for refund--had no returns in 2 years of VW shows!)

With the recent problems with Gerry I thought the group might want to think about adding a voluntary license fee to help support the cost of upkeep of the list. A dollar or two per hat might help keep the list up and running. I'm sure Ron is busy with other stuff right now so I thought the group could decide this democratically. Email me directly if you want to vote on an amount of license fee and I will post results or we can discuss on the list if desired.
