not really.... it was just a standard vanagon. and also, i've never seen a '80 vanagon with the plastic air scoop inserts anyway, be it a L, or not. the plastic air scoop thingies were intro'd in late '81. Also, there was no such thing as a "GL" till late '82... from '80-'82 there was just the "L" , the standard (non-L) models, and then the kombi (bare bonez, no headliner in back, solid color paintjob)
