You may want to put on new belts, especially if they've never been changed. I'd say go with the platnum spark plugs, and new rotor, cap, distributer. Not sure of any brands but I bought mine from a local foreign flaps; much less expensive then vw originals and they seem to work fine. Make sure to use that anti seze when you do the spark plugs, dont want those suckers gettin stuck in there. Have fun
