german listmember Helmut Ziedler did this audi 5 banger swap into his '80 camper..(yes, '80..he had to run all the coolant lines/rad etc...)

i'd be interested in doing this also, if you can get a 5cyl bellhousing for an automatic trans, and you can do the swap without raising the rear deck height...(Helmut??) i currently drive an '84 audi 5000s turbo daily, and it is a BULLETPROOF engine...never even had the valve covers off, and it has 150k on it now... every audi i've ever seen in the junkyard has a good engine...they all get junked for the henious power steering systems LOL!!!! (sorry..audi joke..;<} (never seen an older audi that didn't leak ps fluid..) but those audi 5cyl engines are pretty much maintenance free (cant speak for those ones they put in the early EV's tho.)
