I've done this on the passenger's side. Removing the regulator is not too hard. I used my Clymer manual, not my Hayne's or Bently, but I'm guessing the procedure is adequately described in both these manuals.

It would be nice to have some help holding up the window when you remove the regulator, but I did OK without. Be carefull removing the thin plastic wind shield (or whatever it's called) and you can put it back using double sided tape.

I didn't find much to repiair in mine, it seems to be pretty much a "replace the whole part" type of animal. As I recall, there's a small rectangular plastic piece that rides on the flexible screw cable; it has groves on both sides to fit into the window carrier itself. In my case this plastic part wore out, which caused the jam. I was able to jigger things back into place and affect a temporary repair using a large washer, but this too failed after a month or so. Finally just replaced the whole regulator with a junk yard part.
