Well Hey! not wanting to be a sniviling lurker or whatever let me introduce myself to the assembled: Long time bus owner..how long? 25 years or more! Have had a 52 panel van, 66 bus,68 crewcab,69 bus,2-71 westies 71 Sportmobile camper,,3-72 buses,74 bus,74 westy,76 bus(auto) 77 westy,79 bus,80Vanagon (911 engine in that one!) 82 diesel,82 turbo diesel westy,2-83 westies,84 vanagon,85 mulitvan(auto) 86 syncro,87 Syncro westy(sold it.fool, fool, fool) 87 vanagon(auto),91 *plain* Vanagon,and the current ride is an 85westyGL wth all the toys including gas heater! I'm both a ASE Master tech and engine machinist and have worked on VW's for many years and have been an automotive teacher. Now employed as an engineer with an aerospace firm, I no longer work on cars professionally,although I do rebuild a few bus and syncro trannies each year..Now located in NC but the job takes me worldwide 3 weeks out of 4...great for collecting parts,*bad* for getting to travel in the westy... I'll just sit back now and pay attention, if that's ok.......... Life in the slow lane....
