yup. riding around, looking for Suzuki Samurai for my nephew (don't ask!), we spotted and looked at this one:

1991 Vanagon GL, maroon, with silvered plastic bumpers and side molding, 103,550 miles, grey cloth interior (looked good), automatic transmission, power mirrors, air conditioning. defects noted: - few small scratches, dings on front - front bumper cracked on top, - front passenger seat belt (fixed part on seat-side) missing plastic cover (in glove box) - rear hatch struts weak. - dent in rear body behind rear bumper (new bumper?? can't see how they bumped the body without smashing the bumper). not big or bad, but noticeable. - power steering pump seems to be seeping a lot. leaking? fluid level was down to Min. - transmission pan seemed to be seeping also. very small spots on pavement under bus. looks like someone didn't tighten the bolts back up in proper sequence. AAMCO receipt in glove box. - non-standard muffler ... looked like some Thrush thingie. makes it kinda loud, like it has an exhaust leak.

the first salesman said they were asking $7995. about five minutes later, another one came out and said they'd "let me have it" for only $4900. he wanted to move it RIGHT THEN. he said it had been sitting there for 60 days and they were only gonna keep it for another week or so before selling it wholesale to some other dealer.

it's on the Bessemer Highway (old US-11) in Midfield, AL at Midfield Auto-Outlet, (205) 426-4475. ask for Charlie Ogletree.

joel anybody wanna buy a John Deere lawn mower/tractor for $5000??? :)
